  Monken Leads Mustangs Into Inaugural Football Season

  2010 marks the first year for a varsity football program at the brand new Metea Valley High School in Aurora. The school opened its doors for the 2009-10 school year.

  It's a whole new game for head coach Ted Monken, who will begin play in the Upstate 8 conference, competing in the Valley division. The Mustangs will compete against Waubonsie Valley, Neuqua Valley, Lake Park, South Elgin, and East Aurora.

  Coach Monken is geared up for hitting the practice fields and preparing for the upcoming campaign. "Should be an interesting year, playing varsity with no seniors in the building." Metea Valley will open up with just a freshman, sophomore, and junior class, for the 2010-11 school year.

  Ted Monken was head coach previously at St. Charles East, where he compiled a (36-17) record. He played collegiately at Grand Valley State (1987-91). Assistant coaches will be, Jeff Cherry, Bob Monken, Jim Braun, Jeff Schey, Cedric Williams, Tom Reber, Marchel Rogers, and John Aister.
